Important

Please read these notes carefully before placing your entries:

1.  Telephone entries WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED. Written entries must be received by first post on

Monday 3rd April or e-mail or O.A.R.A. entries by 6 p.m. on the same day.

  2.  The start order will be drawn up at 7 p.m. on Monday 3rd April at the Secretary’s home

        address.

  3.  The start order, local rules & safety plan will be posted out to all Clubs as soon as possible after

the start order has been compiled. Clubs submitting their entries by e-mail will receive a further

copy electronically (to one e-mail address per Club). The same information will also be posted on

the School Rowing Club’s website at www.phsrc.org.uk

  4.   Entry Fees paid on the day will be levied an additional £1 charge.
  5.   Prizes will be awarded in all categories where a minimum of two crews start the race.
  6.   Where there are insufficient entries, you will be entered in the next highest age category unless

you state otherwise with your entry – please specify an alternative event, if possible.

Entries will also be accepted for lightweight mens and womens junior (J18) single sculls ONLY

(definition of a lightweight as per the A.R.A. Rules of Racing).

Entries for mixed quads, fours & doubles may be accepted at the organisers discretion. Please

enter them in the same division as the Mens crews of the same age.

Entries for 4- for J16 & J18 ONLY may also be accepted at the organisers discretion – please

enter in the same division as the 4+ and please state if NOT prepared to race in 4+ if no 4- event.

7.      The Secretary &/or Safety Adviser reserve the right to cancel individual boat classes, divisions or the whole event on the day if weather and/or river conditions dictate.

8.      Coaches are reminded that they have an extra duty of care to junior crews and should consider carefully if any crew they propose to enter is capable of handling potentially choppy conditions and/or strong stream or tide that can occur on the tidal River Tyne. Coaches are further reminded that, not withstanding point 7. above, they are fully at liberty to withdraw any of their crews from the event at the boathouse on the day if they feel that they could not cope with the prevailing river conditions (entry fees will be refunded in these circumstances).

9.      DOUBLING OR TRIPLING UP between divisions is positively encouraged (this includes competitors, coxes, boats AND blades), but note that the Head cannot guarantee to provide a

         minimum rest interval between divisions.

10.    All events in fine boats, which must be provided by the competitors and/or Clubs.

11.    State age category clearly on entry form. J15 & younger quad sculls will be coxed.

Coxless pair entries will only be accepted from J16 or J18 crews.

12.    A & B events will be offered for all categories if there are sufficient entries – if a Club has more than one crew/sculler in a single category, an entry in the B event will generally only be accepted if the Club has entered at least one crew/sculler in the A event, unless there are other reasonable circumstances (please contact the Secretary prior to the deadline in this instance).

13.    There will be a Victor Ludorum Trophy presented to the most successful Club on the day. This will be decided by a points system depending on the finish position of each crew in each division.

14.    ALL competitors representing A.R.A. affiliated Clubs must be registered competition members of the A.R.A. and must bring their racing licence with them. Failure to produce a valid racing licence upon request may result in disqualification.

15.    Competitors who do not have a valid A.R.A. registration number on their entry form must

purchase a day ticket for £15.00. This rule also applies to S.A.R.A./W.A.R.A. members without a

valid registration number from their own governing body.
  16.  This Head will be run in accordance with A.R.A. Rules, the A.R.A. Rules of Racing and the

A.R.A. Water Safety Code. All coxes must wear appropriate lifejackets or buoyancy aids.

Boats may be checked prior to boating for each division for safety compliance. Boats and/or

crews failing to comply will not be permitted to boat and compete.
