Ponteland Community High School Rowing Club was founded in 1990 by Chemistry teacher Dr Hoare. Today, it has approximately 20 members ranging from Junior 13 to Junior 18. The club offers any student or adult living in the community of Ponteland the opportunity to try rowing.

We are based in Newburn on the River Tyne and share our facilities with Tyne RC. The club enjoys success at many rowing competitions, both rowing and national throught out the year. Our current wins record is 69, which was gained in 1999. Our most notable acheivement to date is our girls double winning the final of the National Championships in 1999.

The club usually trains at the following times:

Sunday: 2.00 - 4.00
Tuesday: 3.30 - 6.30
Friday: 3.30 - 6.30

The club's fleet of boats include 5 Janousek single sculls, 1 Janousek quad/coxed four, 1 quad and 2 double sculls. We have strong links with Tyne Rowing Club who allow us use of their 2 Janousek double sculls / coxless pairs. At the 2002 Tyne Head, the club entered an 8+ for the first time, in which the crew performed outstandingly.

Janousek 2x/2- double with red/yellow/black stripes on the front and back
Janousek 4x/4- quad with red/yellow/black stripes on front and back
Blades: Dreiss blades with red/yellow/red stripes on ends
Clothing: Black vests with red/yellow/red stripes, or yellow rugby jersey with black stripe for novices.
